Lucknow, July 29: Mayavati’s police today arrested Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, Sachin Pilot and Rita Bahuguna Joshi while they were going to a farmers’ rally against land acquisition in Badalpur, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s native village.

The village in Gautambudhnagar district — another name for Noida — is in western Uttar Pradesh.

The Mayavati government wants to make an amusement park after acquiring land in four villages — Badalpur being one of them. The total area to be acquired is 920996.3 acres.
