Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, arrested on November 4 in an abetment of suicide case, failed to get relief on Saturday as the Bombay High Court reserved its order on his appeal.

“We will pass the order at the earliest,” the court said after a marathon hearing. It added that Goswami was free to move the sessions court for regular bail in the meantime.

If a bail plea is filed, then the sessions court shall decide it within four days, it said.

A division bench of Justices S.S. Shinde and M.S. Karnik heard the arguments of the petitioners Goswami, Feroze Shaikh and Nitesh Sarda on interim bail. It said it would hear their petition on quashing of the FIR on December 10.

Elsewhere, the Raigad sessions court said it will hear on November 9 the police’s appeal against a magistrate’s order denying them the custody of Goswami and the two other accused.
