Megyn Kelly, one of the most popular television anchors in the US, has been caught not doing her homework on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media habits.
Kelly asked Modi whether he was on Twitter.
For four months and until a few weeks ago, Modi had clocked the highest number of Twitter followers among world leaders.
That perch has been usurped by Donald Trump, whose feuds with Kelly have played a considerable part in making her a household name in America when she was with Fox News.

Kelly, now with NBC, had met Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday evening in St. Petersburg, ahead of a Friday session she moderated. After Kelly shook hands with Putin and Modi, the Prime Minister said: “I saw your pics....” Modi then pointed to the ceiling and added: “With umbrella.” Amid laughter, Kelly asked Modi: “Are you on Twitter?”
“Yes,” Modi replied and laughed.
The Prime Minister later posted a picture and said: “Before dinner, had a brief interaction with noted journalist & commentator @megynkelly, moderator of tomorrow’s session.”

As a video containing the question became public, Kelly was trolled on social media. Some wondered why she had not done her homework and pointed out that the Prime Minister had done his homework so that he could make “small talk about the umbrella photo”.
