Hyderabad, Sept. 7: Andhra Pradesh’s planned anti-terror intelligence unit will be called Octopus — Organisation to Counter Terrorist Operations at the State Level.

A sum of Rs 300 crore has been set aside to raise the 13,000-strong special force, chief minister Y.S.R. Reddy said, adding 4,000 personnel will be recruited in the first phase. It will cost the state Rs 250 crore annually.

The unit will monitor websites, help train a proposed anti-terror force and analyse data and documents that could be of relevance in the battle against terror.

Four suspected ISI operatives — cellphone traders Javed and Jaheer, sales representative Syed Julfikar Ahmed and motor mechanic Ahmed Quereshi — have been caught in Hyderabad on the basis of information gathered from narco-analysis tests on blast suspects, police said.
