New Delhi, Oct. 16 (PTI): At least 14 passengers on Air-India’s Jeddah-bound flight from Mumbai suffered injuries when the aircraft hit a major air turbulence.
Flight 865 lost height by nearly 5,000 feet after it hit the air turbulence because of bad weather last evening, the airline said in a statement today.
On landing in Jeddah, the injured underwent a medical check-up at the airport, it said. One passenger, believed to have suffered a minor fracture, is in a hospital and is expected to be discharged soon.
There were 70 passengers on board.
Yesterday, passengers of an Alliance Air Boeing 737, flying from Mumbai to Delhi, was hit by a bird after take-off from Jodhpur and had to make an emergency landing. Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi and Supreme Court judge Justice P.P. Navelkar were on the flight.
