Chennai, June 14 (PTI): DMK MLAs led by M.K. Stalin today waved currency notes in the Tamil Nadu Assembly to protest alleged horse-trading involving ruling AIADMK members before being evicted en masse.

The ruckus unfolded on the budget session's opening day after Speaker P. Dhanapal turned down Stalin's demand to discuss the matter. Following the evictions, the DMK members blocked the road outside the secretariat, leading to them being detained briefly.

S.S. Saravanan, an MLA from the dissident AIADMKcamp led by O. Panneerselvam, purportedly claimed in a TV "sting" that pay-offs were made to ruling party MLAs ahead of the February 18 trust vote won by chief minister K. Palaniswami. Yesterday, Saravanan had said the voice in the video was not his.
