Alleging that the BJP has made the entire country a 'detention camp', West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said the CAA and NRC will be scrapped if opposition bloc INDIA forms government at the Centre. Addressing an election rally here in support of four TMC candidates in Assam, she alleged that there will be "no democracy and elections if Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns to power" for the third consecutive term.

The 'Surya tilak' of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya was done at noon on Wednesday on the occasion of Ram Navami using an elaborate mechanism involving mirrors and lenses by which sunbeams were directed on the forehead of Ram idol. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared pictures of him watching the Surya tilak on an electronic device.

Election Commission has ordered social media platform X to take down select posts of YSR Congress, AAP, N Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary for violation of model code of conduct, the microblogging site said. 'X' said the Election Commission of India has issued takedown orders requiring the microblogging site to act on posts containing political speech shared from elected politicians, political parties and candidates for office.

AAP launched its 'AAP Ka RamRajya' website for the Lok Sabha polls campaign to showcase the party's concept of 'Ram Rajya', saying Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tried to realise the ideals of Lord Ram in the national capital. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the website will showcase AAP's concept of 'Ram Rajya' as well as the work done by the party's governments.

Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case accused and former Nagpur University professor Shoma Sen was released from a prison in Mumbai today afternoon, an official said. Sen walked out of the Byculla jail in central Mumbai after the completion of all formalities, the senior prison official said.

When an Israeli shell struck Gaza's largest fertility clinic in December, the explosion blasted the lids off five liquid nitrogen tanks stored in a corner of the embryology unit. As the ultra-cold liquid evaporated, the temperature inside the tanks rose, destroying more than 4,000 embryos plus 1,000 more specimens of sperm and unfertilized eggs stored at Gaza City's Al Basma IVF centre.

The Odisha government announced the closure of all schools in the state from April 18 to 20 in view of the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) heatwave forecast. As per IMD’s forecast, the temperature is likely to rise gradually by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius at many places during the next two days.
