Three senior executives have resigned at Byju’s amid the edtech start-up restructuring its operations by consolidating four verticals into two.

“At present, two very seasoned and senior leaders head both verticals — Ramesh Karra leads the K-10 vertical, while Jitesh Shah leads the exam prep business,’’ a Byju’s spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the start-up has undertaken restructuring of business into two major verticals — K-10 and exam prep.

Its business in India earlier came under four categories — K3 or Early Learn, 4th to 10th class, 11th and 12th class, and tuition centres (BTC).

Last week, Byju’s senior vice-president for international business Cherian Thomas had resigned from the company to join US-based Impending Inc.

Thomas, touted to be the architect behind Byju’s US expansion, was also responsible for spearheading the business of Osmo (as its CEO), a Byju’s subsidiary, with a revenue of over $100 million in 2020-21.

Byju’s appointed Agrawal as the chief business officer - Early Learn in March 2022.

Byju’s had then said she will lead the vertical which offers personalised and interactive learning programmes for children aged between 4 years and 8 years.

As CBO, Agrawal focussed on charting the early learn portfolio strategy, define design and deliver a holistic learning consumer offering and drive top-line growth for the business.

With a career spanning over 20 years across businesses and sectors, Agrawal had earlier worked as a chief consumer officer at Zee, where she was leading the business transformation initiatives and the brand growth mandate across TV and OTT verticals.

She had also worked at Tata UniStoreLtd as the head of marketing and at HDFC Life as the vice-president of marketing and analytics.

A post-graduate from IIM Ahmedabad with a degree in electrical engineering from IIT Madras, Agrawal also founded ‘All OK Tech Support’, where she worked with Market Gate Consulting. She was with Hindustan Unilever for over five years where she donned several sales and marketing roles.
