Oh I love colours! There’s one memory that sticks out when I see colours. During my childhood, a lot of people used to come over to our house to play Holi. But I would be very scared whenever someone would come near my mother with colours. Now I find it very funny of course.

My colouring books. Till the age of 10, I was more into colouring than painting. I had this huge collection of colouring books, which I would gleefully fill with the gaudiest of shades from my crayon box.

The streets, after Holi. A splatter of pink here and a dash of green there... they make a lovely collage. It also takes me back to the days of my drawing classes and the lovely pictures that my teacher would make. I never learnt to draw as well as him.

Cinema. More specifically, Hindi films. Something from the Yash Chopra school, with blue skies and resplendent yellow fields surrounded by green trees. All brightly lit and throbbing with a vibrancy of their own.

Rang barse from Silsila. Not only because of its connection to Holi, but for the range of emotions and drama at play in that sequence. And then there’s Amitabh Bachchan to heighten the drama of ‘colour’!

Energy, fun, excitement and love. Colour brings a lot of positivity and happiness to my life.

Not Jenson & Nicholson! Whenever I see colour I think of certain films and Holi song sequences from Bollywood, like Sholay. The other film that I associate with colour is French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Amelie.

Holi, what else! I love colours and I love the smell of abir. I look forward to Holi every year. I like to mix all the colours... red, blue, green… and smear it on the faces of the people I love. Colour, for me, is the symbol of love and joy.

All those wonderful dresses that I have looked up and want to buy! I am a very colourful person by nature and I love colourful clothes. A gorgeous pink is on my mind right now!

People. To me colour means Holi and Holi means lots of friends, relatives, near and dear ones, phone calls, text messages and fans. Also food! A variety of dishes are cooked at home by mom on Holi.
