Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (TJMM) continues to remain steady at the box office with collections of Rs 82.5 crore nett after a week since its Holi release, according to Box Office India.

The Luv Ranjan romcom had the second highest opening for a Hindi film in 2023, right after Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone-starrer Pathaan (Rs 57 crore nett). It earned Rs 15.73 crore nett on the opening day, followed by Rs 10.3 crore nett on Thursday and Rs 10.5 crore nett on Friday.

The box office collection of TJMM witnessed a jump over the weekend — it added Rs 16 crore nett and Rs 17.03 crore nett to its coffers on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Monday, however, saw an usual drop in earnings as TJMM managed to collect Rs 7 crore nett. The movie added Rs 6 crore nett to its kitty on Tuesday.

If the current trends hold, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar will enter the Rs 100-crore club in its second weekend. It will be the second Hindi release of 2023, after Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan, to hit a century at the box office.

TJMM’s box office success comes as a respite for Bollywood after Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada and Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Selfiee tanked at the box office.
