Hoichoi recently launched the trailer of the detective series Byomkesh o Pinjrapol, directed by Sudipto Roy. Within 24 hours of its release, the trailer garnered over one lakh views on YouTube and has been trending among the top 10 videos on YouTube India. The trailer has managed to gain a lot of positive reactions from the audience and the hype around the series can already be felt.

The web series is an adaption of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s famous story Chiryakhana. Actor Anirban Bhattacharya is also the creative director for the show.

“Being associated with Byomkesh over the past so many years has been an absolute honour and with every season we have aimed to evolve. However, this time the process itself has been to give Byomkesh a more humanised shade. I am overwhelmed with the response that we have been garnering from the audience. I feel incredible as the trailer has been so well accepted by the viewers,” said Anirban.

“Byomkesh Bakshi and the world around him have a special place in the heart of Bengalis. We have tried to find those sweet spots and make the treatment more experience based for the audience. The plan was to experiment in controlled boundaries. The reactions or responses that we have received after the release of the trailer are heartwarming and really very encouraging. It’s really a treat to see audiences accepting and appreciating stylised treatment in terms of visuals and sound. We are hoping the show will surprise them even more. I am floored by the performances of all the actors in this show; Anirban obviously leads the pack. He has neatly come in as a much more mature Byomkesh and a terrific co-actor for everyone else in the show. His acumen as a film-maker after his directorial ventures certainly enriched the show. It’s my first collaboration with him and it will remain a very special one,” said Sudipto Roy.
