Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theatres in India a day early

Chris Hemsworth’s much-awaited film narrates Thor’s journey as the Asgardian god of thunder after Avengers Endgame

Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth’s much-awaited superhero movie Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theatres in India on July 7, a day before the scheduled release date of July 8, Marvel India announced on social media on Friday.

“Get ready for the ultimate ‘THORSDAY’! Marvel Studios’ #ThorLoveAndThunder arrives in cinemas in India a day before, on the 7th of July,” read a post on Marvel India’s Instagram page.

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Hemsworth returns as the titular superhero, a role that he previously played in three solo and four Avengers films.

Filmmaker Taika Waititi, who directed the 2017 blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok, has helmed the latest offering from the Marvel franchise.Waititi also reprises his role as Korg, a Kronan gladiator who befriended Thor in Thor: Ragnarok.

Oscar winner Natalie Portman is returning as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder. The actress played Thor’s romantic interest from planet earth in 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World.Thor: Love and Thunder will also feature Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Russell Crowe as Zeus.

The film’s story is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, which was released in 2019. In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor, the god of thunder, attempts to find inner peace, but he must return to action and fight Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, from eliminating all gods.

In his fight against Gorr, Thor recruits Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster, who has become the Mighty Thor now. The film trailer also shows scenes from Thor’s childhood in Asgard, a small planet that serves as home to Asgardians in the Marvel universe.

The movie is produced by Kevin Feige-led Marvel Studios. It will release in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
