Ahead of their Dallas show, American DJ duo The Chainsmokers met Malayalam star Mohanlal and clicked a picture together, leading to fans gushing over the unexpected crossover.
Sharing the picture of them together in one frame, The Chainsmothers — consisting of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart — wrote, “Made a new friend before our show in Dallas @mohanlal.”
While the electronic duo twinned in white, Mohanlal went for a dual-toned blue shirt paired with a white t-shirt and blue denims.
Fans couldn’t keep their calm in the comments section. “This is so random,” one of them wrote. “We got Lalettan with Chainsmokers before GTA 6,” another commented. “What in the crossover,” came another comment. “Aaah I see you’ve met King @mohanlal,” an Instagram user added.
The Chainsmokers are an American electronic DJ, consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, who rose to global fame in the mid-2010s with their blend of EDM, pop and indie influences. They first gained widespread attention with their viral 2014 hit #Selfie, but it was their 2016 chart-topping single Closer, featuring Halsey, that cemented their mainstream success, spending weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Known for catchy hooks, relatable lyrics about youth and relationships, and Taggart’s distinctive vocals, the duo became popular for making EDM more accessible to pop audiences.
Their debut album Memories...Do Not Open further solidified their presence in global pop culture, producing hits like Paris and Something Just Like This. They have won major awards, including a Grammy, and built a major fanbase with an evolving sound and multiple collaborations with international artistes.
Mohanlal was last seen in the 2025 film L2: Empuraan, the much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer, where he reprised his iconic role. The actor is currently gearing up for his next major release, Patriot, a spy thriller directed by Mahesh Narayanan and slated to release this year.
Apart from Patriot, Mohanlal also has a strong lineup of upcoming projects, including Drishyam 3 and Ram.
