Anjan Dutt’s English film Bow Barracks Forever has brought home an award from Spain. Lilette Dubey, one of the film’s leading cast members, won the best actress award at the Madrid International Film Festival held from March 28 to April 5.
Bow Barracks Forever revolves around an Anglo-Indian community; Lilette plays Emily Lobo, a wine-seller who yearns to settle abroad with her elder son. Lilette has daughter Neha Dubey, Moon Moon Sen, Victor Banerjee and Sabyasachi Chakraborty as co-stars in the film.
The other film from Tollywood to have had a screening at the Madrid festival is Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s Anuranan, starring Rituparna Sengupta, Rahul Bose, Rajat Kapoor and Raima Sen.
Anuranan is ready to travel to the Santa Cruz Film festival, California, in May. “Anuranan will most probably be screened in the competitive section,” said Aniruddha.
The chaos on Calcutta streets has a special appeal for many film-makers. For the second shoot schedule of his debut film Purple Haze, Mainak Dasgupta has zeroed in on Park Street, Camac Street, Sudder Street and the Maidan area.
“We will shoot some chase scenes with the protagonist and a few other characters on these stretches. It will form the climax of the film,” said Mainak, who had a last-minute addition to his cast. That’s Rajatava Dutta, who will play a cop.
Purple Haze is a thriller about a youth (Aryan Baruah) whose life changes when the nightclub singer (Mrinalini Sharma) he loves disappears one day.
