Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan beats RRR in the US, becomes highest-grossing Hindi film in global box office

The Siddharth Anand-directed blockbuster, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has earned $14.4 million in the US and Canada

Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan has emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film in the international box office, surpassing the total collections of S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR in the US, box office records highlighted on Tuesday.

According to box office data, the total worldwide gross collection of the film reached an incredible Rs 849 crore (India gross: Rs 525.80 crore, overseas: Rs 323.20 crore) on Monday.

The Siddharth Anand-directed spy action thriller, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has raised $39.41 million in the overseas market (excluding China).

In North America, Pathaan has raked in USD 14.4 million, beating the collections of S.S. Rajamouli’s visual epic RRR (USD 14.3 million) to emerge as the second-highest grossing Indian film in the region, second only to Baahubali: The Conclusion (USD 20 million). In Australia, the film made AD 4.5 million while it collected USD 11.41 million in the UAE and Gulf countries.

Pathaan has also become the highest-grossing Hindi film in the United Kingdom, with a total collection of GBP 3.40 million, beating the earnings of Dhoom 3 (GBP 2.71 million). Pathaan has also emerged as the biggest Indian movie in New Zealand (with a collection of NZD 1.2 million), beating Padmaavat (NZD 872K).

In India, Pathaan held steady at the box office on its second Monday with reduced ticket prices. The footfall on Monday was the same as the second Friday. It collected Rs 8.55 crore nett in India on Monday, taking the film's total earnings so far in India to Rs 438.45 crore nett.
