After playing a struggling actress in Animesh Roy’s Streetlight earlier this year, Locket Chatterjee will once again don the greasepaint to play a television actress for Debabrata Roy’s debut, From Headquarter.

Locket, who started her career with television, is excited about her role but denies any similarity with her character. “It’s true that I too started off as a TV star but I did films simultaneously. While doing my first mega-serial Bhalobasha Theke Jaye (ETV Bangla), I bagged Chiranjitda’s film Manush Amanush. Besides, my character in From Headquarter gets involved in a relationship with directors, producers and script-writers for work. Locket Chatterjee had no such flings in her life!” she declares.

Locket may deny any connection, but her director, Debabrata, says he chose her because he thought Locket fit the bill as “she had started off with TV and though she has done lots of films, directors are yet to exploit her potential.”

“I felt Locket would be able to relate to the character and give me necessary inputs while shooting,” says Debabrata, who has done telefilms like Mid Fielder and Rakta.

From Headquarter is a relationship-based tale revolving around a successful TV actress who craves a film role. And she can go to any extent for that. Chandan Sen plays a director, Abhishek Chatterjee plays a moneyed man and Anindya Banerjee plays the script-writer. Locket gets involved with the three men. The film also has a thriller angle as a murder takes place in the climax,” he reveals.

But why the title From Headquarter? “That’s because it’s a thriller. And the murder is solved by a cop (played by newcomer Saurav), who comes from the police headquarters.”

Produced by Monojit Das and Rajesh Mukherjee, From Headquarter goes on the floors next Wednesday.
