Pursuing canteen honours, at Bombay brasserie

Back from college for vacation and counting days till I go back, I was missing my Lady Shri Ram College for Women canteen and its mutton dosas, and also that cute professor. Just when it got too much, I was sent to sample the new menu at Bombay Brasserie in Quest mall, which has included food from 21 canteens across India.

“It was the collective effort of the entire team at Bombay Brasserie. Our experiences and memories in these canteens have shaped our choices. Every member gave me their favourites from their canteens, be it a college canteen or a highway canteen, and then after years of research and effort, the suggestions were adopted,” says Shikha Nath, brand director, Bombay Brasserie. In fact, her own trip to Margao in Goa where she first ate Goan Prawn Chops has led to its inclusion in this new menu.

So what is this menu like? You get  a buffet with fare from three canteens each day. On a Monday afternoon, I worked my way through Achari Aloo, Banjara Chicken, Panchmel Dal, Sindhi Kheema Biryani, Fish Mirch Masala, Jaipur Subzi, Andhra Chicken, Paneer Tikka Butter Masala and Chole Double Roti... as I tried to Facebook-stalk my cute professor. The lunch was heavenly and by the end of it, the cute professor, suddenly, didn’t matter anymore, tbh.
