Producers Guild of India has thanked all state governments for ensuring peaceful release of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan across India as several fringe outfits called for a boycott of the movie.
“Your efforts in safeguarding the sanctity of cinema so that it can entertain India and Indians has boosted the confidence of the Indian film industry,” the Guild said in a statement.
“Tens of thousands of hardworking people make up the Hindi film industry and the larger content-producing fraternity for television and streaming services. The industry generates employment, contributes to the country’s economy. The industry has grown exponentially for over a century and we are among the few countries where homegrown content still dominates,” the statement reads.
Praising millions of film lovers across the country, the Guild statement described Pathaan’s success as the triumph of the power of love over adversity. “We share this moment of victory with you all.
Thank you for being an enabler of history being scripted in India. See you at the cinemas,” it mentions.
Also featuring Deepika Padukone and John Abrahan, the Siddarth Anand directorial, which released in cinemas on January 25, has already minted more than Rs 300 crore at the worldwide box office.
