Phone Bhoot trumps Mili and Double XL at box office

Starring Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaurvedi, Phone Bhoot collected over Rs 1.75 crore on Day 1

Phone Bhoot, starring Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaurvedi, trumped Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili and Sonakshi Sinha-Huma Qureshi-starrer Double XL at the box office on Day 1 of its release, according to reports.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Phone Bhoot reported collections in the range of Rs 1.75-2 crore nett. The horror comedy has been released on 1,000 screens across India.

Mili, which also released on Friday, collected only Rs 50 lakh nett on Day 1, as per Box Office India. Directed by Mathukutty Xavier, Mili is a remake of the acclaimed Malayalam film Helen.

According to reports, Double XL collected Rs 22 lakh nett across India on Friday. Analysts predict that the women-centric film will find it hard to cross the Rs 1 crore-mark even if it reports a jump over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson-starrer superhero movie Black Adam is doing wonders for the DC Extended Universe at the box office. The pre-Diwali release, which hit the cinemas on October 20, is still going strong after two weeks. According to Box Office India, the action-comedy film has collected Rs 45 crore nett in the Indian market so far and grossed Rs 50 lakh on November 4.

Kannada movie Kantara outperformed the new releases of the week in terms of box office collection. The Hindi version of the Rishab Shetty directorial grossed Rs 2.1 crore pan India on Friday. The mythological action thriller has so far grossed Rs 53.75 crore in the domestic box office.
