Tolly star Prosenjit recently announced a bouquet of films to be produced by his production company, nIdeas. Uronchandi is a road movie that marks the debut of actress Indrani Dutta’s daughter, Rajnandini; Mahalaya sees Jisshu Sengupta playing yesteryear star Uttam Kumar.
Jisshu will also be seen in the film Dasda, to be directed by Chandril Bhattacharya.
Prosenjit will star in Kolkata Company, to be directed by Mahalaya maker Soumik Sen; and in two others directed by Kaushik Ganguly and Chandrasish Roy. The fourth Prosenjit-starrer is based on a Suchitra Bhattacharya story. “This is my way of giving back to Bengali cinema. I want to build nIdeas as a strong production house.
I’m looking for fresh content. I’ve always tried to do movies ahead of their times. We are releasing Uronchandi in August. You won’t find a single indoor shot in this road movie. The shoot for Mahalaya is complete. I would like to send it to film fests,” said Prosenjit, who would like to take his role as a producer more seriously. “I’ve learnt a lot of things from cinema.
The films we announced are not the usual kind. We are supporting fresh talent and new directors. The audience has faith in me, let me come up with something new,” he added.
