Are you the kind to order a new dish every time you visit a place, while your friends order the same old favourites? The Corner Courtyard has made additions that should interest you.

“We turned two in October and we’ve had four menu changes already. The first one was based on what Calcutta doesn’t have and we balanced it with some comfort food and some experimental dishes. There has to be something for all kinds of taste palates. Besides this, we like to keep things fresh and seasonal and so the winter menu is always high on vegetables,” said Megha Agarwal, proprietor, The Corner Courtyard. t2 dropped in to sample what’s new.

Spice Lamb Sliders: There’s blue cheese on the toasted buns — a welcome surprise for cheese lovers. The pineapple salsa atop the minced meat patty is both sweet and tangy. If you like burgers but don’t like the ungainly mouthfuls they make, these petite ones are for you. Rs 360
Green Apple and Beetroot Salad: Crunchy is the key here, with the green apple shavings, beetroot, lettuce, onion and rocket leaves. The walnuts are roasted, which makes them crackle and the feta cheese gives that much needed cream. Rs 360
Turkish-style Spinach Falafel: These are tender, like kebabs, and stuffed with spinach, peas and chickpea. The sesame seeds give it a light crunch and the pepper salsa and sour cream a dash of tang. The beetroot hummus makes for an interesting dip. Rs 260
Stuffed Mediterranean Chicken: A well-balanced plate if there ever was one. The grilled chicken is stuffed with mozzarella, pimento, spinach and sun-dried tomato. The tomato relish sauce is added on the side when it gets too dry. It is served with a dollop of creamy pesto potato and a portion of ciabatta bread, stuffed with grilled spinach. Rs 480

“The Corner Courtyard is my go-to place to meet a friend for a cuppa, or over pizza. It’s high on style and conveniently located for working lunches. Megha’s inimitable spirit is inspiring ,” said fashion designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh.
