Tanushree Baid was crowned Voice of CSC presented by The Calcutta Swimming Club in association with t2 at the Strand Road address on April 19. The 10-year-old student of La Martiniere for Girls won it with her rendition of Tum ho mere dil ki dhadkan (Manzil). Tanushree, who loves “listening to old songs on the radio”, also bagged the award for the best female singer in the U-13 category. How did she celebrate? A treat at McDonald’s with her grandparents! Tanushree trains “once a week,” and is learning to play the harmonium. “Right now I am concentrating on my studies, but then singing has always been my favourite hobby and I will continue learning,” smiled the little lady.

Club president Prashant Binnany gave away the award along with wife Shraddha (inset). “Over 60 members and kids took part in three categories. The theme this year is ‘Connect and Bond’ which is why we are striving to hold events that bring the club members closer to each other,” he said. “Also to get this programme together, committee member Naresh Goyal along with sub-commitee members Rajiv Raja and Geetanjali Fatehpuria put in a huge effort. The entire committee chipped in with ideas. The response has been tremendous and we hope to hold the event on a much larger scale next year,” added Prashant.
