SNAPCHAT with MLTR
The band was formed 25 years ago and you’re still going strong. So what is the secret behind your enduring longevity and popularity?
We have always done what we love — that is making music — and stayed true to the kind of music we love. That’s no secret but just a matter of believing in what we are despite what other people tell us.
What are your thoughts on music (especially pop and soft rock) churned out by Indian musicians?
Indian music is fantastic — both traditional and current pop. We hear a lot of it when we travel in India and think there are many great artistes. We are always open for collaborations if the right idea comes up.
What do you have to say about the concert crowd in India vis-a-vis the West? Any particular cities/places in India that you love/would love to perform?
We have had some of the highlights of our career in India because the concert audience is simply amazing. Once (in 2005) we played in Shillong for 30,000 people and that was one of the most memorable moments in our life. Compared to the audience in the West, our Indian audience are so much more passionate with music. We are looking forward to visiting new cities this December, places we have never been before like Calcutta, Guwahati, Nagaland and Goa.

The Actor
I’m not an actor I’m not a star
And I don’t even have my own car
But I’m hoping so much you’ll stay
That you will love me anyway
That’s Why (You Go Away)
I won’t forget the way you’re kissing
The feeling’s so strong were lasting for so long
But I’m not the man your heart is missing
That’s why you go away I know
Someday
Someday someway
Together we would be baby
I will take and you will take your time
We’ll wait for our fate
’Cos nobody owns us baby
We can shake we can shake the rock
Sleeping Child
Oh my sleeping child the world’s so wild
But you’ve built your own paradise
That’s one reason why
I’ll cover you sleeping child
Know them through the videos
The Actor: The Danish band burst onto the mainstream music scene with the song The Actor ; we see lead vocalist-keyboard player Jascha Richter for the first time in the video of the hit track that millions of boys — with or without a car — turned to, to nurse a broken heart.
Someday: This time the sea, sand and the azure blue sky in Bali made for the perfect backdrop for MLTR to break out into this popular track. The surprise factor? We see a local act mouthing the chorus first till MLTR takes over.
That’s Why (You Go Away): The video goes back and forth between scenes of the band performing the song and black-and-white images (complete with title cards that have lines like ‘Love is one big illusion’) of a couple drifting apart.
