“Wow! Such a lovely combination. You can wear it to a party,” smiled Koel, plucking the black-magenta-orange handwoven contemporary Benarasi sari (Rs 9,075) from the hanger at CIMA Art In Life.
Red is Koel’s favourite colour and this beautiful georgette red-and-gold Benarasi sari (Rs 12,950) caught her eye. “This sari is ideal for Ashtami and it would look great with gold jewellery. I would love to wear it when offering anjali,” said the Tolly actress, also picking out a handmade golden neckpiece (Rs 350) from the costume jewellery section.
Think it’s brocade? This stunning black-and-gold item is a Pashmina shawl (Rs 29,250)! Such a rich textile calls for minimal jewellery, so a handmade gold-washed silver butterfly pendant (Rs 2,425) on a leather cord, for that touch of edginess. “Here, I am all set for a Navami night-out!” said Koel. Her tip: You can also wear this pendant as a brooch.
A crinkled yellow cotton skirt (Rs 3,350) from Rajasthan, a statement neckpiece in red and orange (Rs 675) handmade by a protected tribe in Odisha, a shawl with kantha work (Rs 1,675) — such a pretty look deserves a little twirl! “The entire look is very girlie and beautiful. The neckpiece will enhance any solid-colour outfit, be it white or black,” said Koel.
Koel loves palazzos, and an aquamarine paisley print palazzo from Rajasthan (Rs 1,150) was her pick. Throw on a multi-coloured light woollen scarf (Rs 2,250). “It’s a very comfortable look, great for a day-out or a movie with my friends.”
Koel slipped on a stack of handmade bangles with floral motifs (Rs 290 each), sourced from Birbhum. “You can wear these bangles one at a time or together for a dramatic effect,” she said.
A red Pashmina (Rs 9,450) is what you would want with this skirt and necklace when there’s a nip in the air in the coming months. For Koel, a stole is an accessory.
