‘I wear what I like to wear’ — Jim Sarbh

A chilling Khalil in Neerja, a compelling Malik Kafur in Padmaavat, a slimy Zubin Mistry in Sanju… Jim Sarbh’s acting choices have grabbed attention in just a couple of years, and so has his style quotient. Scroll through this Instagram account and chances are you’ll go ‘wow’! On the sidelines of walking for Selected Homme at a fashion show that celebrated a decade of Bestseller in India at Grand Hyatt Mumbai on August 8, Jim took some style posers from t2, on email.

Your style is quirky... and there’s so much confidence! Have you always been this rebellious with your style?

I almost never take it very seriously. I wear what I like to wear, I don’t really know or care about trends. However, I really like things — materials. Like all of us who would be at a fashion show, I am a materialist — I appreciate and enjoy pretty, attractive and striking or subtle, subdued things that speak for themselves. People would call this fashion but that’s not how I view it. I look at it as something I like, and I let the look do the talking.
What are some of the out-of-the-box things you have tried in your life?
Dresses!

There is something very vintage cool about you. Did you have an icon growing up?

Mahatma Gandhi.

Given a choice, what would you wear every day?

Shorts and a singlet.

You experiment a lot with your hair. What is the next thing you want to try?

Completely bald with really elaborate head tattoos!

There is a thin line between quirky and weird. Where do you draw the line?

I thought I was suave!

Who, according to you, is the most well-dressed actress in Bollywood?

Shikha Talsania!

Saionee Chakraborty
