“My search for gifts for all my friends’ kids always ended at Burberry. If I was looking for something couture I would never find anything beyond the Burberry trench coat. It was a frustrating exercise as I searched for little girls’ clothing that wasn’t just mass-produced baby dresses in varied shades of pink but handcrafted, well-thought-out couture pieces for the endearing angels. So it was a personal need,” says Kiran. This personal need led her to the idea of a line for the little style divas from the KUG house of design. She started toying with a few “samples” and when we saw the signature KUG pleated dresses in pop colours in micro forms, we fell in love with them. A shoot was planned in no time as we felt there were enough excited moms waiting to see the line. We got three little stylistas with individual personalities and here’s how the shoot unfolded.
THE HEROINE
|
Name: MADHUBANI PAUL (aka binti)
Age: Two and a half
Attitude: ZEN-LIKE
If you thought calm, composed and elegant are not words you associate with a toddler, come spend a day with Binti. She carried off this red pleated wrap dress with Oriental knot detail over a grey tee just like a model would. She walked the walk, twirled her tresses and even strutted in nude six-inch pumps!

NAME: AVIKA JAIN (aka avu)
AGE: TWO
ATTITUDE: THE REBEL
Avu stepped into the living room of Kiran’s Ballygunge home with a frown on her face. The frown deepened at the sight of clothes on the hangers. The howling began when her mom tried to get her into this yellow pleated angarkha dress over a white cotton tee. So in came chocolates, and candies, and cookies… and finally she rewarded us with this mischievous smile.
THE DIVA

Name: SIA GUHA MAZUMDAR
Age: one and a half
Attitude: party girl
This little one knows her mind and was confident in each and every piece she wore. The veteran shopper was happy to have a range of hangers on her arm. And to rock one outfit after another. All the while having a blast while exploring Kiran’s home. KUG put this bundle of mischief into a lime green pleated wrap dress with a white tee and skinny jeans, and then into an orange number with white tights.
