Lesbian love, lip-locks, cuss words.... Subrata Sen’s Koyekti Meyer Galpo has all this and more, revolving around five ‘escorts’ — played by Locket, Parno, Mumtaz, Tanushree and Raima. t2 picks four ‘bold’ sequences.

1.The kissing scene between Rai (Nimisha, Mumtaz’s adhesive-sniffing, unstable sister and her imaginary lover, played by Tanima Biswas) is one of those that the censor board had objected to but finally gave the go-ahead. “This scene was essential to the storytelling. But the censor board had a major problem with it. My point is, the board does not have a problem with kissing scenes, so why should they have a problem with same-sex scenes?” asks Subrata.

2. Rai is tied up, gagged and tortured by two thugs, followed by a high-on-expletives-and-innuendo conversation between the two men on the difference between “dabka” and “daasha” fruits. And then, they try to rape her.

“When we shot this scene, we knew that it was disturbing, so we decided to shoot it in black and white to make the details less vivid. But even after that, the censors wanted me to remove the scene. In fact, it was a compromise that if I cut the lesbian scene short, I would get to keep the violence scene,” says Subrata.

3.Tanushree’s Puja is in-your-face, in speech as well as in body language. But like most of the other scenes, this one too hinges on innuendos rather than action. Tanushree picks up a drunk rich ‘customer’, takes him to a seedy room, lights a joint and talks dirty. “The censor board had problems with the language too and I just could not get it across that without the expletives, I wouldn’t have been able to establish the characters,” adds Subrata.

4.As the bored, frustrated wife of a rich mafia boss (Shantilal Mukherjee), Mumtaz wears a wig and garish lipstick, does drugs and suggestively sips on spiked milk along with Raima Sen’s Rini from a glass, all the while talking about massages and making love.
