WILL FRIDAY THE 13TH PLAY ON THEIR MINDS AS TEAM KKR TAKE ON RAJASTHAN ROYALS TODAY? THE KNIGHTS GET CANDID WITH T2. DO YOU HAVE ANY SPORTING SUPERSTITIONS? TELL T2@ABP.IN Published 13.04.12, 12:00 AM

SHAKIB AL HASAN

I have no problems with the number 13, nor am I superstitious about Friday the 13th. In fact, I don’t actually remember any bad omen associated with that number or day in my life. I think I scored 36 and took three wickets against Kenya, 75 and two wickets against Pakistan, and recently 67 not out against the West Indies — all on the 13th of a month! So

13 as a number is pretty cool for me, I guess!

BRETT LEE

I don’t have any fears regarding Friday the 13th or the day bringing me bad luck. It is just another day. Nor do I worry about walking under a ladder, a black cat crossing my path, breaking a mirror or opening an umbrella indoors — all of which are said to bring you bad luck! I don’t carry a rabbit’s foot for luck but I do sometimes cross my fingers for good luck!

But I have a cricket ritual — I always put on my left shoe first. You’ve got to put one on first, so why not the left? I do the same with my batting pads and sweat bands.

EOIN MORGAN

I am not really the superstitious kind, so Friday the 13th is not a day I think about. I can’t remember if anything good, bad or otherwise has happened to me on one such day....

I used to have a lucky bracelet and carried it around all the time, until it broke. After that, I haven’t carried anything.

LAXMI RATAN SHUKLA

I am a superstitious person but not much about Friday the 13th. I don’t really dwell on the date much so I can’t recall if anything bad has happened to me on a Friday the 13th. But

I do enjoy watching all Friday the 13th movies!

YUSUF PATHAN

I don’t really think too much about a day like Friday the 13th. I am a realist. I do not like to attribute motives to anyone, anything or any incident. I have the same philosophy when it comes to days. The day or date does not bother me. Every day is a gift and there is no need to demonise a particular day. There is no bad day or date in my book. Whatever has to happen will happen, because God has already scripted your life. You cannot change anything by fretting about what could happen.

But yes, I am a little superstitious so I try and do everything first with my right hand or leg.

When stepping onto the field while fielding or batting, I put my right foot forward. If I am putting on my pads, I wear the right pad first. I believe if I do everything with my right hand or leg it will be good for me.

BRENDON MCCULLUM

I don’t really have any stories about Friday the 13th. My only superstitions, though, are that

I never stay in a hotel room numbered 13 and definitely don’t sit in a plane seat with the number 13!

CHIRAG JANI

I am not really superstitious about Friday the 13th and have no fears about the date. However, I do have a few superstitions of my own. For example,

I always put my left leg guard on first, pray before every match and consider the numbers 9 and 12 to be lucky.

MANOJ TIWARY

I am not at all superstitious so, no, I don’t believe in the Friday the 13th myth....

I always put on my left pad first but that is more out of habit than superstition.

RYAN TEN DOESCHATE

I remember a video game about Friday the 13th when I was younger. I’ve always recognised the date when it comes up but I’m not superstitious about it and I don’t believe it is a day to be concerned about. I like the way that Nelson (111) has become part of cricket legend but I don’t believe that it claims more victims than other numbers. If anything, I fear the number 0!

I like to have something on my right wrist... it must be something that was given to me and I tend to stick with it till it falls off.

If there are such things as cricket gods, I’m willing to believe in them. Anything to get an edge!
