The first thing I have in the morning: A glass of hot water and a dash of lime. Later, I drink some coconut water. For breakfast, I have toast with an egg if I am hungry. But bean sprouts and tea are a must everyday.

My lunch: If I am at home, I eat brown rice, chicken or fish, dal and vegetables. I have lots of green chillies, and garlic achar. When I am shooting, I don’t carry my lunch from home. I have the unit food, which is normally quite good; if it is not good, I order a grilled chicken sandwich. I always carry soya chaklis with me to my shooting. They are very healthy and a good substitute for a meal, if need be.

My favourite vegetables: Bhindi, cabbage and spinach.

My favourite fruits: I am very fond of nashpati. I also like oranges and grapes. When I have the urge to eat something sweet, I have a fruit. Fruits are a must for me.

My diet: Is basically non-vegetarian. I love fish, and I eat a lot of it. I am also fond of chicken and eggs. I am very fond of crab curry and prawn malai curry.

My evening snack: I am not a snack person, I only have tea in the evenings.

My favourite Calcutta snack food: I love having paani puri in Calcutta. Fortunately, my maid, who is from Calcutta, knows how to make paani puri and jhalmuri.

My dinner: I like to have an early dinner, by 9pm, because I don’t snack in the evenings. Nowadays, I am struggling to cut down my rice intake at night but it is difficult as I have been brought up on rice. For dinner, I either have Continental fare like baked or roast chicken or my regular brown rice with chicken/ fish.

My favourite desserts: I love chocolates but I cannot stop at having just a piece; I want to finish the whole bar. So I try and avoid them. When my parents are in town, they always bring delicious chocolate cakes from Calcutta. When I am in Calcutta or when my parents are here, I eat this dessert twice a day after both my meals. Therefore, I request my parents not to bring any desserts for me!

I dislike eating: Paneer; it is something that I just cannot push down my throat.

A childhood memory associated with food: As a child, I relished home made French fries. Even now, when I feel like gorging, I have French fries made for me.

My Sunday meal: When I am at home on Sunday, I don’t stick to my regular lunch. I eat all the time. On Sundays, I also indulge in chocolates.

My culinary abilities: I can make tea, instant noodles and fried and scrambled eggs! My sister Riya, however, cooks really well and I make her cook for me all the time. She makes lovely kebabs, pastas and Mexican chicken.

My favourite cuisine: Chinese.

My favourite beverages: Tea and coffee, though I am trying to cut down on my coffee.

My idea of a romantic meal: I don’t like to eat with my hands on a romantic date — it gets too messy. So I would like to eat Continental or Chinese fare at one of my favourite restaurants.
