Parambrata

For one whole year, Parambrata Chattopadhyay has been in wait-and-watch mode for his directorial debut to take off. Well, the wait will be over at last — just two days after Poila Baisakh. Producer T Sarkar Productions has given Param the green signal to go ahead with his laugh riot Jiyo Kaka!!.

Parambrata is happy that he could use the time to tweak his script. “I have made slight changes in the script, in the detailing rather. It’s more compact now. Since a year has passed, we got more time to think and therefore the changes,” he says.

Parambrata has also revised the cast, dropping a few and adding some actors. The new names are Abhiraj, who has debuted opposite Priyanka in Swapan Saha’s Ei Prithibi Tomar Aamar, Chirodini... Tumi Je Aamar hero Rahul, Saswata Chatterjee and director Kaushik Ganguly. Rituparna Sengupta and Rudranil Ghosh have remained on board, but Sagnik is out of the project. And no, Parambrata is not acting in the film.

“Directing and acting at the same time is like a mental roller-coaster ride. I am happy that I can now work in peace.... Rahul and Abhiraj are brilliant performers. Besides, all of us share the same wavelength,” he explains.

Jiyo Kaka!! spins around three friends — Rudranil who is an intellectual, Rahul who’s a self-conscious youth and Abhiraj who dreams of making it big in Bollywood. Rituparna plays a superstar.

T Sarkar Productions is all praise for Parambrata now. “We are very happy with the modified script. It’s a film we have always wanted to do but there was some misunderstanding between Param and us. Everything has now been sorted out,” said producer Vinayak Sarkar.

Neel Dutt will compose music for five songs with Rupam and Chandrabindoo on the vocals. The film goes on the floors on April 17; it will be shot in Calcutta and Bolpur.
