Koshe Kosha, the Bengali dine destination known for recreating the kosha mangsho of Golbari fame, has opened its fifth outlet at 1/1C Ripon Street.
To celebrate the opening of the new restaurant, the Koshe Kosha owners hosted a success party for the team of Open Tee Bioscope, the debut directorial venture by Chandrabindoo man Anindya Chattopadhyay, on March 21.
“With this outlet, our plan to be present in central Calcutta has come true. We will open another outlet in Garia soon,” said Bublu Das Sharma, one of the directors of Koshe Kosha.
Pradeep Paul, the man who opened the first outlet in Hatibagan (at the food court in Star Theatre) in 2007, shared with t2 the origin of the restaurant. “I was a huge fan of Golbari’s kosha mangsho. In my student days Rs 1.50 was enough to have a hearty meal of ruti and mangsho there. So when the iconic Golbari in Shyambazar shut down [temporarily] in 2006, I felt it was my duty to keep the ruti-mangsho experience going! That’s how Koshe Kosha was born,” said Pradeep.
“The menu is the same in all our outlets, the ambience is different. In Golpark you get a rural feel. The Rajarhat outlet has a zamindar bari feel. Here, we tried to bring in the element of art and culture of Bengal,” said Pradeep’s son Chiraag, the youngest director of Koshe Kosha.
