Plane food has never really been something to look forward to, right? An aviation-themed restaurant in Salt Lake aims to turn that idea around by serving wholesome multi-cuisine vegetarian food.

Broccoli Corn Dumpling: A thin dumpling encases steamed broccoli and corn, a pleasant change from the usual vegetable stuffing. The spicy hot garlic sauce is what makes this dish.

Fly Kouzina in AD Block is calling all veg foodies. When you arrive at the correct gate, the sensory doors will slide open to allow you inside. The first cabin is reserved for larger groups of diners. The second cabin is where groups of four can be seated.

Bharwan Firdosi Tandoori Aloo: An Indian-style stuffed jacket potato. The spicy filling consists of dry fruits stir-fried in Indian spices. The dish is then roasted in the tandoor and emerges deliciously brown, with all the flavours of a spice-filled potato.

The seats are numbered as on an airplane, except that here you can select your seats after you walk in. Window screens beside each table will make you feel that your flight is taking off or landing — a sure-shot way of keeping the little ones entertained. Once you’re seated comfortably, the Captain will hand you your boarding pass and the cabin crew will hand you a veg menu more extensive than you’ve ever had on any flight.

“Our parents always wanted us to come back to Calcutta. Being engineers and working with MNCs, it was a make-or-break decision for us to quit. We realised that Calcutta didn’t have many good theme-based restaurants, so we zeroed in on the idea of Fly Kouzina,” said Rishi Singhal, co-proprietor.

Pizza Kouzina: The classic vegetarian thin-crust pizza with mozzarella and processed cheese, along with corn, broccoli, tomato and parsley. Some things never get old. Rs 327-plus
