It was time for competitions and camaraderie at Elixir 2016, a four-day fest presented by BP Poddar Institute, in association with The Telegraph-You, recently. Day 1 took off at City Centre New Town with a range of events, from rock band contests to fashion show to three-minutes-to-fame competition.
The closing day saw the action shift to Nazrul Mancha. The Anupam Roy Band (left) opened their set with Ami aajkaal bhalo achhi and worked the young crowd with hits like Benche thakar gaan, Bariye dao tomar haath, Adbhut mugdhota and Bawshonto eshe gechhe, offering a fitting finale to the fun fest.

Defending champs Rhythmic Squad of BP Poddar Institute presented the most energetic and vibrant performance in the group dance competition, showcasing their theme ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ with Chinese lions, LED-adorned costumes, Jabbawockeez masks and nunchakus. No wonder they were picked the winners this year too, by judges Sangeeta and Vineeta of the dance academy, Sangvee. Stage Burners, whose routine paid tribute to the Indian Army, were the runners-up.
The crowd showed no signs of exhaustion as they screamed and cheered for Bollywood playback singer Nikhil D’Souza. Starting off with his famous track Har kisiko from the film Boss, Nikhil performed all his popular filmi tracks, like Dooriyan, Anjaana Anjaani, Sang hoon tere and more.
Singer Durnibar Shah, a finalist in Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, was felicitated by principal Sutapa Mukherjee. “Though I am missing my batchmates, it feels great to be a part of this fest,” said the singer from the class of 2011.
