Folk songs take us back to our roots; they define our rawest emotions and pump up our spirits. Bandhu 3 din – Revisited, inspired by a famous Bangla folk number, originally sung by Runa Laila, composed by Alauddin Ali and written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar, is one such track! JSE Music has recreated the number to revive the spirit of Bengal right at the brink of the festive season.

JSE Music had experimented with Thakur jamai two years ago and achieved a roaring success. The music video of Bandhu 3 din – Revisited, conceptualised and produced by Jonai Singh (the founder of JSE Music) with the music recreated by Shiladitya-Som, features Sreetama Baidya and the singer Anushka Patra. Anushka gained fame from her appearances in reality TV shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs and Indian Idol 13 and Sreetama from Dance Bangla Dance. They’ve brought a modern twist to Runa Laila’s rendition of the song with their energetic and youthful presence.

“This is our first collaboration with the brilliant musical duo, Shiladitya-Som. Working with them has been an exciting journey. Bigger projects are in the works with the duo. I thank them for partnering with us in supporting independent young artistes who are seeking platforms to showcase their talents,” said Jonai Singh.

“We have been composing original numbers but we also wanted to recreate certain old compositions, especially some Bengali classics and folk numbers. Bandhu 3 Din was one of those ideas. We took Bandhu 3 Din, set it in the modern times and recreated it. It has a very modern soundscape with a retro feel. Anushka did justice to the song and when JSE approached us, it was great to see how a US-based company was keen to recreate a Bengali song. We agreed, and we are keen on making a series. We want to rearrange more Bengali folk numbers,” said Shiladitya-Som.
