Roopa and Abir star in Aashbo Aar Ekdin

One-film-old director Abhijit Dasgupta is ready to start his next film, Aashbo Aar Ekdin, from Friday the 16th.

If his directorial debut Dwitiya Basanta looked at the man-woman relationship in a modern setting, Aashbo Aar Ekdin is about cosmopolitan families from different communities.

Starring Roopa Ganguly, Abir Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Ridhima Ghosh, Aloknanda Roy and Arindam Sil, the story is about the bond between families belonging to different communities. But when a crisis hits, their worlds turn topsy-turvy. Roopa and Arindam play the parents of an adopted Muslim boy (Gaurav). Swastika, who plays Aloknanda’s daughter and Arindam’s sister, is in love with Abir, a Punjabi guy. Gaurav and Ridhima, who plays a singer, are in love.

“It is a feel-good film about relationships and love. Though a crisis strikes the families, in the end they overcome it,” said director Dasgupta. “This is a very realistic film which starts off by narrating simple stories about these families. It takes a dramatic turn in the second half and leads to a different understanding of mankind,” added Arindam, who’s also the film’s associate director.

Bangla band Chandrabindoo will do the songs for Aashbo Aar Ekdin; the background score will be by Bickram Ghosh. Barun Mukherjee is the director of photography. The film will mostly be shot in Calcutta, with some sequences taking Team Aashbo Aar Ekdin to Bhutan around March.
