Women’s Day with a difference

The members of the National Service Scheme of St. Xavier’s College celebrated International Women’s Day, focusing on finding solutions for those who experience challenging situations in life just because they are women. With the theme ‘W for W’ (Women for Women), 200 girls and 50 boys from the Park Street and Raghabpur campuses came together to express their views and opinions, and pledge to support one another.

The programme began with the inaugural address by Father Dominic Savio, principal of St. Xavier’s College, after which the Xaverian Academy of Dance and Music (XADAM) team enacted a play.

The students talked about how they would like to be treated and made a promise to themselves to lead life with self-respect and dignity.

The event aimed at forming two small self-help groups — one on the Raghabpur campus and the other on Park Street — who would meet regularly to share their struggles and challenges and help one another to face them.
