Music lovers were in for a treat as Calcutta-based band Wagah Road played a two-hour set of Bollywood hits and other songs for #WagahRoad Live at Raize The Bar in association with t2, on November 6. Teamed with a variety of beers and mouth-watering delicacies, people enjoyed and danced to the tunes of the band.

“We choose our setlist in such a way that people can listen to songs they are already familiar with but with different arrangements. The musicians in the band have diverse musical influences and that reflects in our sound. The hospitality and warmth at Raize The Bar was simply phenomenal,” said Siddharth Pathak (centre, in picture above), singer of Wagah Road.

t2 brings you glimpses from the night of revelry at the Sector V brewery.

“Wagah Road is one of the best homegrown bands around. What better way to spend my Sunday evening than hearing them perform over some freshly-brewed beer!” said Siddhant Jain (left), with friend Abhinav Jhanji.
Entrepreneur Tanushree Rungta (right) and friend Vasundhara Kedia left their seats and clapped and sang along with the band. “Meri pyaari bindu was the absolute highlight of the evening. The way they got everyone to join in when they sang Chaiyya chaiyya was really nice,” said Tanushree.
Drummer Sambit Chatterjee kicked things up a notch when he sang Bhaag D.K. Bose with full power. “I’ve grown up listening to Indian music and have been exposed to a lot of Bollywood. Wagah Road’s covers have depth to it and the raw feel of Indian percussion makes it authentic. I enjoy playing it,” he said.
“I’ve seen Wagah Road perform before and I just love their music, which is why I came to see them live again,” said graphic designer Sriddhi Dalmia (right), savouring craft beer with friend Swati Khem.
“The band was really tight and their coordination was spot on. I also loved the ambience, which made the experience even more enjoyable,” said DJ Ritika Sharma.

You know the show’s gonna end with a bang when the manager of the band gets on stage. DJ Harish hopped on to the stage and sang The Doors’ Roadhouse Blues as everyone raised their glasses and sang in chorus: “Well, I woke up this morning, I got myself a beer.”

ORGANISER SPEAK

“The idea behind a programme like this was to give the guests a pub experience with a live band. Wagah Road not only plays amazing music but also knows how to get the crowd going,” said Raize the Bar owners Shailesh Ganeriwala (left) and Rishabh Sawalka.
