The YFLO ladies wrapped up their book club session for 2017-2018 with a fun discussion on Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi at Cafe 4/1 on Camac Street on April 12.

(From left) YFLO committee members Shilpa Sethi, Shefali Agarwal, Shilpi Choudhary and Varsha Wadhwa cut a cake to mark the end of their last book club session for the year 2017-2018.

The initiative started by the 10th YFLO chairperson, Shilpi Choudhary, has had its members discuss books such as The Dalai Lama’s Cat by David Michie and Karna’s Wife by Kavita Kane. Bestselling author Anuja Chauhan inaugurated the book club when she dropped by with her latest release Baaz in July.

The last session was spent discussing their last book for the year and ended on a joyous note with cake and laughter.

“A book club brings people together and allows them to connect and interact with each other. It also provides them with more knowledge about their favourite books and helps them discover new ones. My favourite reads of the year have been The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Dalai Lama’s Cat by David Michie” — Shilpi Choudhary, former YFLO chairperson

“The main idea was to take people out of their comfort zones and I had taken the initiative of recommending books for the entire year to the book club. My favourite book among those read in the last year is Persepolis” — Varsha Wadhwa, treasurer, YFLO

“The book club made me try out different genres; ones I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise, such as The Dalai Lama’s Cat by David Michie” — Vedika Himmatramka, a member of the book club
