HAIR
• It’s time to say goodbye to bobs and lobs.
• Ombre, rainbow and rose gold hair are out and so is platinum hair, sported by the likes of Miley Cyrus and Kylie Jenner. All these have been overdone. Balayage will be replaced by subtle caramel-balayage hues.
• Colours to watch out for are salt-and-pepper, burnt orange, French browns, chocolate mauve and bronde (brown+blonde).
• The top knot is here to stay. Big bouncy blowouts and waves, like what Bipasha Basu (above) is sporting now, will be hot this year.
PAMPERING
• Scalp scrubbing: This is the newest thing to ensure a healthy mane. The best part is that this works as a replacement for shampooing, so you don’t need that extra step in your hair regimen. A tablespoon of scalp scrub mixed with a little water is enough. Keep it for two-three minutes and follow it up with regular hair conditioner or a mask. It detoxifies, exfoliates and gives the scalp a cooling effect.
• Olaplex is a revolutionary product for the hair and acts as hair insurance. It’s a chemical compound that is applied externally but works from the inside. It’s exactly like hair spa without the massage. Olaplex rebuilds the bond creating stronger hair, rescuing your hair from external damage that we constantly inflict on it.
MAKE-UP

The perfect cat liner or winged liner look has been a favourite in 2017. In 2018, instead of the ultra-sharp wing tips, we will see a lot of rounded-off edges, as seen on Bella Hadid (above).
• Full brows, defined and groomed eyebrows will be all the rage this season and beyond.
• Expect a lot of false lashes. Huda Beauty’s faux wing lashes are your best friend!
• A new trend to watch out for is high-pigment make-up. Sonam Kapoor sporting the L’Oreal Paris’s Infallible Paints range is a treat to the eyes!
• 2018 will see all things glitzy. Not just glitter, but super-sized glitter like rhinestones, gems and sequins are the new way to wear the oversized stuff. Place them on your eyelids or around the eye using a lash glue and voila! — you will be a showstopper!
• Dark lips are a favourite but it’s time to leave those maroons and browns aside. Blue, green or violet as seen on Priyanka Chopra (left), which were once frowned upon, will be seen at stores or in your friend’s make-up kit.
• Instead of using champagne-pink on the inner corners of your eyes, you should now use pink, orange and even baby blue. A touch of pigment on the inner corner of your eyes can really make your peepers pop.

• Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty products are still the rage! Launched in September, the range was an immediate sell-out. Her 40 shades of foundation and yellow-gold highlighter that can be used everywhere on your face will continue to be hot-sellers this new year. Huda Beauty’s textured-eyeshadow palettes are also here to stay.
• A combination of black and glitter, glossy greys, icy metallics and silver polish will be big for the nails this year. Chequered French manicure has replaced the classic French manicure. Graphic designs for nail art will also be popular.
SKIN
• Luminous iridescent skin — the hottest beauty trend of 2017 — will continue through 2018. It’s a beauty essential. In Bollywood, Alia Bhatt (left) and Sonakshi Sinha sport this look fabulously well.
• Beautifying benefits of facial oils were a hot topic in 2017 and will definitely be around. The more glow, the better for your skin.
• It’s time to go organic and lots of people are choosing to go chemical-free. It’s good news because a lot of brands support this now as well.
