If you’ve been on road trips, you would know that driving down a highway is as much about taking in the sights as about digging into the delectable food served up in the roadside eateries. The Food Highway NH1 Festival at Sigree Global Grill (Silver Arcade) and Flame & Grill (Mani Square) captures the essence of highway food, taking you on a food trail from Delhi to Atari (Pakistan), all the way through Punjab.
At Sigree Global Grill, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink of Mango Pepper Juice and a specially curated soundtrack from road films like Highway and Jab We Met.
“The highways from Pakistan via Delhi and Lucknow to Assam boast of brilliant food. Even now when we go on a long drive through the highways, we crave to eat at the dhabas. The charpoy, the delicious lassi in steel glasses... that’s the charm of highway food. That was the idea behind this food festival. We have kept the feel of the highway food but also showcased our creativity with some fusion dishes,” said Debashish Ghosh, general manager, relationships and brand standards, Speciality Restaurants.
