Bertie Wooster, P.G. Wodehouse’s perfectly fallible man, had been forced by his Aunt Dahlia to write an article titled ‘What The Well-Dressed Man Is Wearing’ for her magazine, Milady’s Boudoir. Writing it was so hard that Bertie felt he would go bald and his face would turn into that of a bird who had suffered. But he would have had a much easier time today, with so much happening in men’s fashion. Here’s what two Calcutta designers have to offer to the men

Spring-Summer Collection 2020

Shunyaa, Sharbari Datta’s new brand, is ready with its spring-summer collection 2020. With this, Datta plays with cuts and fabrics attuned to the colourful ensemble of nature at the onset of spring. Her collection is a rich reminder of her vivacity in the way she uses colours, themes and patterns.

For women, Datta has used supple fabrics such as fine Bangalore silk, muslin and tussar to create comfort, while creating embroidery and designs with her distinctive mark. Her saris bear the signature style of her kantha and ari work. For the first time, she has used on Bengal’s heritage muslin fine embroidery.

But a Datta collection can never ignore the men. Which man can resist wearing a Sharbari Datta kurta?

She has designs for the groom: red Bengal silk achkans and angrakhas, with patterns and motifs that appear for the first time in her work. At the same time she is indulging in other vibrant colours: maroon, purple, blue, mustard and grey, combining them with dense or sparse embroidery in kantha and ari on silk and tussar.
