The name’s Fat, Chow Yun-Fat. And he is ready to do some licentious lovemaking — as also killing — as a new, differently-coloured James Bond. According to an MGM studio announcement today, Chow takes over the role from a frazzled Pierce Brosnan for the 21 st edition of the 007 movie series. Chow, Asia’s most recognisable (although slant-eyed) face in Hollywood, is well known for his eyeball-popping stunts in action flicks such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. “It is the most important development in the Bond series since Sean Connery took over the role in the Sixties. The shackles of persisting with a white Bond have finally been broken,” an MGM spokesperson said. Insiders believe the casting coup is a result of flagging interest in Bond movies in the Western market. Die Another Day made most of its $425 million outside US and Europe.
