Fuel?s paradise

For students in the US, project Biobus is like a free passage from the kitchen to the driveway. That?s because the bus runs on vegetable oil. Twenty-one students from Middlebury College have taken a semester off this autumn to embark on a 15,000-mile journey to promote the use of alternative fuel. The trip, which began in Vermont, will cover 22 cities, winding up on December 8. But there?s no chance of anyone getting bored ? the bus is packed with laptops, skateboards and even books for a rainy day. The Biobus gives almost the same mileage as a normal diesel-powered bus, but if you want to fill it up, you have to drive up to the nearest motel.
