The members of YFLO in the Padmasana. “We thought of doing this workshop to keep alive the spirit, moreover many of our members are fitness enthusiasts. Gymming is something which is mechanical but yoga is a more natural way of doing exercise,” said Isha Patodia, chairperson, YFLO.
Bright and early on June 21, around 30 ladies from YFLO gathered at the Rush Fitness studio in Alipore to mark International Yoga Day with two one-hour sessions of Athena Yoga — a form that incorporates techniques such as yin yoga, pranic breathing and Tibetan sound healing meditation.
Conducted by Harsha Banthia, a city-based yoga instructor, the session saw the YFLO members breathing out their worries as they stretched and meditated.

Harsha conducted a sound healing meditation session, in which she used five Tibetan music bowls. “Athena Yoga helps in unfolding the inner wisdom and strength of women,” said Harsha.
Ruchi Basu (in green tee) volunteered for the “Acroyoga” demonstration, in which she was hoisted up by Harsha. “I wasn’t afraid as I love challenges and I work out regularly. As a runner, yoga helps me with flexibility and staying young,” said Ruchi.
