The turning point in my life has just taken place recently. It’s the international recognition that is taking me places. Even till last year, my professional life was moving at a slow speed. Suddenly the pace has picked up and this year I am booked right from January till December. Every month I have invites from places like Sydney, Egypt, Berlin among others. So I will go for the festivals there and hold workshops and classes along with the topmost dancers in the world.
And that in itself is a high — they pay my airfare because it would technically be cheaper for them to fly dancers from within Europe. It has to be something special that they are looking at.
In India, you need connections. You need to have some Bollywood association to prove your mettle. But overseas, you rely on just your talent. I have with time created this cult, which follows a fusion of hip hop, jazz and contemporary dance. So professionally, I have come a long way since the time I started in 2002. I have arrived where I wanted to be.
