The new look

A red-brick facade, earthy colours and an open-seating plan make up the new Serafina — on the fifth floor of the mall — with 76 seats. “I decided to revisit my little travel book and design an Italian-influenced brick house for Serafina,” said Payal Khanna of Mumbai-based interior design firm Aura Dezyne.
With the new seating, diners can now get a clear view of the oven that churns out Serafina’s signature pizzas. The design of the kitchen counter has been kept the same, and the red-brick walls have some eye-catching wall art. A novel addition to the al fresco area is a coffee zone that will keep diners awaiting their turn at the restaurant and tired shoppers refuelled.
The tipple zone has been expanded to include a bigger bar where an enviable wine collection is out in the open for foodies to admire and take their pick from. The sip list has eight new cocktails, devised in collaboration with Brandon Toborg, reserve brand ambassador, Diageo India.

MENU FAVES

On the new menu, each dish has a distinct flavour. While Brasato Di Pesce (Braised bekti with wine, butter, capers and cherry tomatoes, served with sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes) is mild yet flavoursome with a perfectly cooked bekti, Insalata Prosciutto E Pinoli (Aragula, pine nuts and prosciutto with a pesto mayo dressing) has a nutty, creamy texture. And the best thing about Pizza Con Pollo E Scarmoza (San marzano tomato, bell pepper, chicken, mozzarella and smoked mozzarella) is its smokiness. The top picks for the cocktails include Farm Fresh, a gin-based drink with Italian herbs, and Scotchberry Crush, a fruity Scotch drink with strawberry. “We have added dishes based on the requirement of the city — a lot of vegetarian, fish and chicken dishes which were missing earlier. The idea is to cater to our Calcutta clientele,” said Rajiv Singh, general manager, Global Kitchens.

After a short renovation hiatus, Serafina, the Italian dine den on the fifth floor of Quest, is back with a new look and some delicious additions to their food and tipple menu. “It’s a new look and I like what Payal has done. It’s warm and has an Italian rustic charm to it. I like the feeling of togetherness of the open-seating plan,” said Utsav Parekh, the franchise owner of Serafina at Quest. The relaunch party on January 11 was a warm and intimate affair, much like its new look and feel, with Samarth and Niyati Parekh playing perfect hosts. “Great food, great ambience and a fun vibe — that’s what people can expect from the revamped Serafina,” said Samarth.

Harsh Neotia (seen here with Niyati) checked out the revamped Serafina.
“I love the colours and it feels quite young and fun,” said Shashwat Goenka, who dropped in with wife, Shivika. “It’s like a pizzeria and it looks amazing!” said Shivika.
Swastika Mukherjee, in a Ritu Kumar maxi dress, cut a pretty picture on the scooter parked in the al fresco area. While her cocktail pick was Scotchberry Crush, she loved Insalata Prosciutto E Pinoli from the food menu. “I am not a person who likes leafy vegetables but I liked the Insalata,” said the actress.
Fashion designers Komal and Ratul Sood.
Designer-duo Dev (right) and Nil liked the Pizza Con Pollo E Scarmoza and the Brasato Di Pesce. “The new decor looks vibrant and inviting. We keep coming here because we love Italian food and their wine collection is fantastic,” said Dev.
Footwear designer Rohan Arora couldn’t have enough of the tiramisu shots — one of the party specials.
Sri Lankan jazz singer Hania Luthufi was on song with Srinjay Banerjee on the guitar.
