Fulbright

What is it: The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement programme will provide secondary schoolteachers the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and teaching skills. It is a six-week non-degree, non-credit academic programme at a US university and involves 40 hours of practice teaching. Participants will travel to the US for one of two six-week professional development programmes in either spring or fall of 2019

Who can apply: Candidates who have a BEd degree, are residents of India, have taught for at least five years, and teach English, social studies, mathematics, science or special education

SCHOLARSHIP

Charpak, France

What is it: The Charpak scholarship programme, run by the Embassy of France in India, is named after Georges Charpak, a French physicist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1992. It offers three types of funding: research internship, exchange programme and master's programme. The master's scholarship is designed for one to two years of study in France for all streams and fields of study. Application forms are available only online

Who can apply: Candidates must not be more than 30 years old and should be currently enrolled at an Indian institution of higher learning or a young professional employed for a maximum of three years. They should have an admission or acceptance letter from a French institution of higher education. Those who have finished first year of master's with a Charpak scholarship are eligible to apply afresh for the second year

What is it: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, seeks applications to its four-year bachelor of science (research) programme. Application forms are available only online

Who can apply: Students appearing for the Class XII board examination in 2018 or have passed in 2017. The applicant must have studied physics, chemistry and mathematics as main subjects during Plus Two and secured 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade
