The newly-opened Starmark outlet at South City Mall is bigger and better, spread over 15,000sq ft, with brick inlay on the walls, hanging lamps and an open ceiling.

“The look is warm and earthy and we are glad to have opened doors as many people have been asking us about the store. The various sections are bigger and have more privacy,” said Gautam Jatia, CEO, Starmark.

t2 swung by for a look with Tollywood actress Sudipta Chakraborty for company.

What: Starmark

Where: Second floor, South City Mall

Open: 11am to 9pm on weekdays and till 9.30pm on weekends

The toys section has been expanded to include brands such as Rubik’s Cube, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Lego and a variety of sports goods from labels like Yonex, Head, Cosco and DSC. The Lego table (above) is already a big hit with the tots.
With around 60,000 books, the Starmark outlet at South City Mall is a treasure trove for bookworms. The shelves are divided into sections that are larger than before. “I have spent hours on these chairs and have even finished books,” said Sudipta, flipping through Andrea Maria Schenkel’s Ice Cold. The new collection includes more titles, especially in the mystery genre.
The kids’ books section is bigger and brighter with many new additions, like the Mr. Men series. We loved the wall art on top of the shelves that got a thumbs up from Sudipta too.
A new section on art and craft houses art paraphernalia from brands such as Staedtler, Daler Rowney and Pebeo. You’ll find quilling paper, art supplies for professionals, glitter and different kinds of wrapping paper. Sudipta loved the craft punch guns (in picture). “I always loved art and craft and after seeing so many things in one place, I feel like becoming a child again,” said the Mayurakshi actress.
The decor section — another addition to the outlet — has knick-knacks such as photo frames, candles, essential oils and artificial plants. “I liked the candles but that has to wait now as my daughter is at the destructive age of two!” laughed Sudipta, picking a yellow kettle as her fave decor item.
The music and games zone is more spacious with more Blu-rays, LPs, games and a PlayStation on display.
Our favourite corner is where the Saregama Carvaan music players (right) are displayed. Each of these can store up to 5,000 songs.
