Fusion of art and fashion at Royal Calcutta Turf Club

TT Bureau Published 29.12.17, 12:00 AM

The five-month-long Calcutta Cold Weather Season is on at Royal Calcutta Turf Club and t2 was there on two signature days of social racing — Art Day on December 13, in association with t2, and Ladies’ Day on December 16, partnered by The Telegraph.

Apart from some high-octane equine action, on Art Day members and guests enjoyed an art exhibition by Aakriti Gallery, an art camp where they could observe artists at work, and an art auction.

For Ladies’ Day, the club organised a flea market, best-dressed competition and much more. Not only did the hooves kick up a storm, the women did too, with their pretty outfits and fancy hats.

Aggregated, ridden by C. Alford, won The Aakriti Art Gallery Calcutta 2000 Guineas (2017) (GRADE II) cup on December 13 at RCTC.
Nandita Daga went for a chic look for Art Day, pairing a beige dress with boots and a sun hat.
“I wanted to have a look at some mind-blowing paintings and artwork,” said Smriti Agarwal, who turned up in an off- shoulder jumpsuit.

Friends turned out in their winter formals for a chilly weekend at the racecourse.
Nikita Moses won the best-dressed title in the western wear category.
