One of my top priorities over the weekend is to ensure that everyone else is having a good time ? be it at my resto-lounge, Starstruck or at my nightclub, Venom. And in the process, it often happens that I forget all about relaxing myself. But lately, I’ve made a conscious decision to step back and ease up a little. Now I let my extremely competent staff manage the show.
Nevertheless a large part of my Saturdays and Sundays are taken up by work. I get up slightly late on Saturdays and pore over the newspapers while enjoying a good breakfast. But I leave for Starstruck soon afterwards. There I wrap up the week’s paperwork, hold meetings and deal with held-over stuff. This continues till about 6.30pm after which I head to Venom for last-minute checks. I have to ensure that everything is on track for the night ahead.
It’s only after all this that I can really take a breather and chill out. My wife, Sonali and I love to spend time with our friends and occasionally we go out to eat. That said, Chinoiserie at The Taj is often on our hit list ? it’s one of my favourite restaurants. An elaborate dinner complete, we try and work off all the calories at, where else, but Venom. It’s a refreshing change to mingle with our guests, rather than stand and screen them at the entrance.
Sunday mornings for me only start at around 1pm. We have a typical Punjabi lunch and thereafter I spend time with our eight-year-old daughter, Muskan. A little bit of TV, playing video games, reading a book with her ? anything goes! By about 5pm though, I leave home for Starstruck to supervise things. And my family joins me there later for an early dinner.
